On October 19th, 2023, the International Democratic Education Conference (IDEC) 2023 in Nepal adopted a resolution (also available as PDF in EN, ES, FR) calling for clarity on the meaning of "compulsory" in the Right to Education. This was sent to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child on Nov 13th, 2023, in advance of the 34th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child on Nov 20th.
